13 Pictures So Wrong It Hurts, Yet Here We Are Looking Anyway

The word “cringe” is a big part of internet culture lately, which is kind of unusual when you think about it. While there’s a certain thrill that comes from being scared and even a kind of quiet dignity that can come from sadness, it’s pretty hard to explain why we would seek out something that unsettles us so much that we cringe at it.

I suppose there’s something to be said for morbid curiosity. When we hear that something is so hard to watch that we won’t be able to stand it, many of us will suddenly feel compelled to give it a look. Of course, this fascination can lead us to some truly scarring places, but it almost seems worth it to relieve that itching feeling in the back of our minds. 

With that in mind, it follows that we should have something to satisfy our curiosity without taking ourselves too far down a rather distressing rabbit hole.

That’s right, some sly devil figured out how to sneak the word “hepatitis” into a children’s book. Based on his facial expression, I think the kid to the right of the tower just figured it out.

2. This shot comes from a Japanese Mikoshi Parade where people carry a portable shrine.

However, I doubt it feels that portable for this man. His condition isn’t surprising, though, because these shrines are known to weigh over a ton.

3. On the left, we have the baby dentures. On the right, a terrifying enemy from the video game Drakengard.

With this handy visual aid, I think we can figure out what’s wrong with the baby dentures.Fortunately, they’re not a real product. They were invented as a joke by a parenting blog.

4. What a pleasant driving experience.

In case you can’t tell, that’s all garbage piled up between those lanes. Apparently, Beirut’s been facing a trash crisis for the last year or so.

While this would be terrible to live through, it’s not the worst problem a city can have.
