10 Things Russia Has To Explain

Russia has often struck the rest of the world as a tough place that only the heartiest of people can withstand. Considering that some of history’s most famous invaders were brought to their knees by Russia’s long, bitter winter, it’s not hard to see how the nation earns its intimidating reputation.

Yet Russia’s tough-guy image only seems to have been confirmed time and time again in recent years through the dashcam videos that YouTubers can’t seem to get enough of. In them, we’re treated to sights and circumstances that most of us would be horrified to experience. However, the typical reactions from the camera’s owner tend to range from mild annoyance to outright indifference.

Much in the same way that nightmarish wildlife makes for some fairly common sights in Australia, Russia seems to have a knack for making extreme situations seem perfectly ordinary.

With that in mind, let’s have a look at 10 slices of life from the world’s largest country that make it all the more fascinating.

Don’t forget to SHARE and remind your friends why Russia is a non-stop boredom cure.

1. I’d say “winter is coming,” but that’s kind of a given over there.

As amazing as that throne is, I’d definitely want to make sure my tetanus shots were up to date before I went anywhere near it.

2. Here we have a shot of a tank in mid-air firing off its main gun.

I’m not sure what brought about this stunt jump, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a group of Russians just decided to do the raddest thing they could think of.

3. Tennis player Svetlana Kuznetsova cut off part of her braid right in the middle of a match.

It kept hitting her in the face, and she decided that not even her own hair was going to stand in the way of victory. As she put it, “I thought, ‘what’s more important? My hair, which can grow, or the match?’”

4. This sign apparently says, “Congratulations! Our pit is five years old!”

You have to admire that kind of attitude. Rather than grumble about construction taking so long, why not throw a birthday party?

However, not every sign you’ll see in Russia is so festive.
