Remembering What Love Is




If you asked everyone you know to explain what love is, you’d get a different answer every time. Guaranteed. Love is one of the most difficult emotions to explain – and to experience, if we’re being completely honest here. It’s why writers have dedicated their whole careers to it. It’s the one thing we all know we want, but don’t really know how to describe. 


We try anyway. We find little words with big meanings and we string them together to make sense of what we’re feeling. These quotes are no different.

Adele’s new song “Hello” is perfect listening for anyone who wants to unnecessarily relive the emotional trauma of having your heart shattered into a billion pieces. The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
