After Baby Girl Was Abducted From Hospital 18 Years Ago, Police Find Her And The Perpetrator

One of the most horrifying experiences any one can imagine going through is having your own newborn baby taken from you. Most of us only run through this terrifying scenario in our minds, but some parents live it.

In July of 1998, Shanara Mobley was left devastated after her newborn daughter Kamiyah was abducted just after she was delivered. For the next 18 years, she wouldn’t know her daughter. This would all change after an amazing discovery.

A terrible thing happened to Shanara Mobley 18 years ago in July of 1998 – her newborn daughter Kamiyah was abducted.

Shortly after delivering a healthy baby girl at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, a woman dressed as a nurse came into the hospital and abducted baby Kamiyah.

Police immediately began to look for any clues pointing to where or why she was kidnapped.

Here is a shot from 1998 showing a monitor standing next to several police sketches of Kamiyah and the kidnapper.

Shortly after the incident, a new badge system was implemented at the hospital where she was kidnapped to prevent further incidents.

It was a community-wide effort too. Here is a volunteer putting up a giant sign with notice of the $250,000 reward for the safe return of the child.

Even though tips kept coming in, police were at a loss for substantive clues in the case. The case went cold for years…
