As members of the social media generation, I find we take our ability to use technology for granted to the point where we forget our parents — specifically dads, because men are stubborn and hate trying new things — were grandfathered in. 


My dad was finally learning to use Facebook when Twitter became a thing. I can tell he’s discouraged by the rate at which technology, and social media, is changing. But I gotta give it to him for trying. 


Anyone who’s ever received a cryptic text message riddled with misplaced emojis from their dad knows what I’m talking about. As sad as it is, I still get a good laugh out of it. Maybe he’ll read this list some day and realize he’s not alone.

Adele’s new song “Hello” is perfect listening for anyone who wants to unnecessarily relive the emotional trauma of having your heart shattered into a billion pieces. The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
