Model That Refuses To Be Called "Plus-Sized" Shows That Curves Are In

It seems any model who is above a size six is considered plus-size. Models who pursue their career as plus-size are often working towards breaking stereotypes and stigmas and trying to make their presence in the industry the norm. Then there is a model who is working to get rid of the term plus-size and hates being referred as it in the world of modeling. She’s started a movement called #DropThePlus and all she wants is for the term plus-size to no longer exist in the industry.

Stefania Ferrario is a model from Australia.

The 23-year-old has been referred to as a plus-size model.

She has an issue with this.

“It implies bigger than normal; it’s already giving off the idea that this whole group of women who fall under this label are not the norm.”

Last year she posted a selfie with the hashtag #DropThePlus and it quickly went viral.

The movement is asking the industry to stop using the word plus-size.

Stefania is a model and wants to be called just that.

“I think certain labels do have a negative impact and it’s easier to completely get rid of a word than to try to change its connotational meaning.”
