13 Chest-Bursting Set Secrets About "Alien"

Sigourney Weaver made this movie one of the most revered movies of all time.

Alien is one of those movies you show someone if you know they’ll be so freaked out that they’ll latch onto you.

The movie follows a space crew being forced to fend for themselves as an alien prowls their ship after being born there. The concept is simple and the build up was perfect.

It spawned off a bunch of sequels… and these facts.

This scene still gives me the willies. But there are a bunch of things you missed behind the scenes.

1. The British band, The Who, was basically in this movie. Or at least their lasers were.

The band lent the blue laser lights that were in the alien egg chamber scene. They were testing the laser in the soundstage next door to filming.

2. It took a baboon’s shriek and up to 16 puppeteer operators to bring the Alien Queen to life.

Because remember this was done mostly without CGI.

3. Some of the smoke that was used in the movie is illegal to use now because it’s dangerous to inhale…

Three different types of smoke were used and one is banned from movie sets presumably because of the chemicals inside.
