15 Facts We Didn"t Know About "Twister"
Twister is a 1996 classic. The movie inspired many storm chasers to pursue their dreams and made me thankful that I live far, far away from that type of weather. It’s pretty cool but also incredibly terrifying, and you’ll never find me chasing twisters down. Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton made for a perfect duo in the film, which is definitely one of the reasons why so many people are obsessed with it. A lot actually went into the making of the film, and there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama that we had no idea about until now.
1. To create the sound of a tornado, the sound of a camel moaning was recorded and then slowed down.

2. To generate the strong gusts of wind needed in the movie, they used the engine from a Boeing 707.

3. The film crew purposely destroyed the town of Wakita, Oklahoma to make it look like a tornado had passed through it. The studio then paid for the town to be rebuilt afterwards.

4. You see the movies The Shining and Psycho throughout the movie because Twister was a co-production between Universal and Warner Bros. studios.
