15 Little-Known Facts About "Gilmore Girls"

On November 25, Netflix released Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and I screamed so loud and high that only the dogs in my apartment building could hear! After almost 10 years, we finally get to catch up with our favorite Stars Hollows residents! This is such an exciting time for Gilmore Girls fans because all the characters are beloved and it was about time we revisited the best mother and daughter relationship ever portrayed on TV! In honor of Netflix being so kind to the world and giving us the mini series, here are a list of all the things you never knew about the show!

And don’t worry, if you haven’t had time to watch the revival, there will be absolutely no new spoilers in this article! Just spoilers from Season 1 to 7 so beware!

1. Gilmore Girls was Alexis Bledel’s first acting gig! That’s why in season one, Lauren Graham often has her arm around Alexis so she could help direct her to the right spots!

2. Stars Hollow is based on Washington Depot, Connecticut. The creator of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, stayed there while she was on a road trip with her husband and that’s when she came up with the idea for the show.

3. Even though Rory and Lorelai are always (literally always) drinking coffee, Alexis actually can’t stand coffee! So whenever her character is drinking coffee, it’s actually Coca Cola in the cup!

4. Scott Patterson wasn’t hired on the show to be a series regular. He was only signed on to be in the first episode but everybody on set could see that there was chemistry between him and Lauren so they instantly hired him to sign on for more episodes!
