Artist"s Powerful Comics Depict Life With Anxiety And Depression
Did you know that roughly 18% of the population is battling an anxiety disorder? This amounts to about 40 million adults in the United States alone. While many of us are aware of anxiety disorders like OCD or panic disorder, one ignored aspect of this illness is how it can commonly be accompanied by depression. In fact, about half of people diagnosed with depression also have a diagnosable anxiety disorder.
One artist, Gemma Correll, has attempted to convey the experience that is anxiety and depression using some humorous and not-so-humorous comics. Gemma’s illustrations tap directly into what it feels like to suffer from two types of mental illness that many people don’t fully understand. Many of her comics have even been created to directly contribute to Mental Health America’s #mentalillnessfeelslike campaign.
