Paris Workers Drain Canal And Find A Ton Of Bikes




Every new year people make resolutions. Paris, the “City of Love,” also decided to make a resolution, and that was to clean out the Canal Saint-Martin. The canal is an extremely popular attraction for Parisians and tourists alike, drawing people to the many restaurants and bars that sit along the sides of it. The Canal Saint-Martin is also known to be a popular “hipster hangout.” The draining and cleaning of the canal is being undertaken by a variety of community works, some of who were around for the last cleaning in 2001. The amount of garbage and other things found at the bottom of this canal is astounding, especially since this is expected to be a three month project.

The amount of water being drained is roughly 90,000 cubic meters and it runs along a two-kilometer stretch.
