Scientists Discover A Whole NEW Species Of Humans

A new discovery by scientists in Southwest China could be changing everything we thought we knew about the evolution of humans. No really, everything. And it comes from one little bone, and a few teeth.

Humans as we are today haven’t existed for all that long. We’re a mere blip in earth’s existence. Millions of years ago, the first of us started walking on two legs, and from there we gradually grew into the driving, texting, shopping lovers we are today.

But while scientists thought that gradual rise ended across the globe about 30,000 years ago, new evidence published in PLOS One suggests it happened a lot sooner in some areas. And in fact, there could be one group of people who remained in a primitive state for a lot longer than previously believed.

It all starts in the caves near the Northern Vietnam border about 14,000 years ago, just a few thousand years before the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt started inventing things like algebra. This region is known as “Red Deer Cave.”

Scientists discovered some remains of human ancestors that are forcing everyone to take a good hard look at how humans developed. In 2012, scientists discovered the jaw bones and teeth from these human ancestors, and now they have also found a hip bone from these ancient people. Because they’re from the Red Deer Cave region, they’re being called the “Red Deer Cave People.” While the discovery of any ancestor is amazing in its own right, these people prove a lot more interesting.

The group have similarities to both humans of the period, but also those of more primitive people. In fact, they were unlike any human they’d ever seen, whether it was 200,000 or 200 years ago, said research team leader Darren Curnoe. So, what did they look like?
