When you retire, where do you plan on living? You may hope to stay in your own home, but some of us will have to enter retirement or nursing homes. If that’s the case, what do you think it would be like there? I imagine living somewhere else you aren’t comfortable with would make you scared and angry. This is a reality many elderly people face. One man has recognized the changes needed to be made in this industry and he’s doing something about it in the coolest way.

When you first walk into The Lantern of Chagrin Valley in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, you might think you’ve gone back in time.

The nursing facility is filled with houses replicating a neighborhood from the 1940s.

Everything from the paint schemes down to the fiber-optic ceiling makes this place feel like home for its residents.

The ceiling actually changes to look like a blue sky during the day and a starry night in the evening.

The ground is also painted green like grass and you can hear the sound of birds chirping.

So, what’s the point of this little town replica?
