Adorable Home Video Of 7-Year-Old Actress Shows Us Down Syndrome Is Exciting




October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. It’s about celebrating those with Down syndrome — their lives, their accomplishments, and their abilities.


It’s also about educating because there is still so much stigma and misunderstanding when it comes to Down syndrome. When Jennifer Sanchez, who has two children with Down syndrome, posted a video online of her seven-year-old daughter, the video went viral and (hopefully) is the beginning of real understanding and acceptance.

Meet Sofia Sanchez.


Seven-year-old Sophia is a talented model and actress living in Rocklin, California with her parents and three older brothers.




Her life has taken some surprising turns.


Born in a very small town in Ukraine, Sofia spent almost a year and a half of her life in an orphanage after being abandoned as an infant.











After finding her on Reece’s Rainbow, the Sanchez family knew that she belonged with them.


“We felt that since we were already taking the journey of raising a child with Down syndrome, why not adopt another and provide a loving home for Sofia and also give Joaquin a sibling just like him?” Jennifer told Today.

Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
