Sometimes when you’re working on a project around the house, you need to think outside the toolbox. You may have a vast array of tools in your kit, but every tool has its limitations. Not every project you start is going to go exactly as you planned, and sometimes you need to get a little creative with your tools in order to get the job done. When you do face adversity, don’t give up — get smart and hack your tools.

If you want to get the most out of your tools, the Diply DIY team is here to offer some simple and creative tool hacks to help make your toolbox more versatile without having to invest in more tools. Whether you’re an expert handy person capable of wielding the most extreme power tools or an amateur who thinks a screwdriver is a type of drink, you’re sure to find some interesting ideas here that will help you get the job done. So check out the video to learn the following hacks. Diply has you covered!

Magnetize your screwdriver:

  • Some screwdrivers are magnetic. These screwdrivers are great because they prevent you from losing screws during a build. If your screwdrivers aren’t magnetic, don’t worry! You don’t have to invest in a whole new set. Simply run a magnet along the screwdriver to magnetize it. You’ll never have to worry about losing screws again.

Get out stripped screws:

  • Screws often aren’t made of the toughest metals. This can result in frustrating stripped screws that are seemingly impossible to unscrew. But don’t freak out just yet. An elastic band is a simple way to remedy a stripped screw — just put the elastic over the stripped part of the screw. The elastic will provide your screwdriver with the grip it needs to get the screw out.

Drive a nail in a tight space:

  • If you’re working in close quarters, getting enough leverage to hammer a nail into a piece of wood can be difficult. In these cases, you can ditch the hammer and pick up a C-clamp. Use the clamp to drive the nail into the wood. To avoid damaging your project, you can use a piece of rubber to make a buffer between the metal clamp and the wood.

What are your favorite tool hacks? The Diply DIY team would love to hear how you’ve gotten creative with your tools during your projects!
