The confounding power of a good, brain-warping image to mystify and entrap an audience can’t be underestimated. When somebody else sees something you don’t, you can’t help wanting to see it too.

There are probably some deep psychological factors in play. Really, the brain is the biggest mystery of all. But, whatever is going on inside those gray cells, these optical illusions and hidden images don’t affect everybody equally. Which is a bit strange when you think about it. Pattern recognition is supposed to be one of the things that separates us from the rest of the animal world. You would think the vast majority of humans would be able to find the hidden patterns.
