11 Early Warning Signs Of Diabetes

Diabetes is no small thing. It affects your whole lifestyle. People with diabetes have elevated risks of skin problems, vision problems, nerve damage, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, and strokes. And that’s not even everything.

More than 30 million Americans have diabetes, and 90-95% of those cases are type 2. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas produces too much insulin because the body’s cells have built up a resistance to it. Eventually it just can’t produce enough insulin to maintain a healthy blood sugar level.

That’s when the trouble starts. The body will start sending out signals because things just aren’t working right.

Here’s what to watch out for.

1. Peeing more often

On average, people pee between four and seven times a day. With diabetes, the frequency goes up because glucose that normally gets absorbed into the body through the kidneys doesn’t, so the body flushes it out through urine. When your body makes more urine, that leads to another tell-tale sign…

2. Constant thirst

Obviously creating more urine to flush out the glucose the body can’t absorb requires fluids. So all that peeing makes you thirsty. And when your body loses the energy that it didn’t get from that glucose, you have something else to watch out for.

3. Fatigue

Insulin gathers up the glucose your body uses for energy. With reduced insulin levels, your body can’t get enough energy, so you get tired. Of course, your body still wants energy, so it’s not just thirst you suffer from.

4. Hunger

Often, ironically, it’s carbs and sugar you’ll crave for the energy boost. But because your body can’t process the sugar and carbs, you end up in a terrible cycle. And diabetes can affect your life in other surprising ways…
