It"s Almost December: Here Are Some Brilliant Ideas For Your Elf On A Shelf This Year




It’s the most wonderful season of all: The one that allows your children to believe in magic and have their wishes come true. No parent can resist that.


That’s why we go out of our way to make sure that they get to experience all the wonderful things the holidays bring.


We freeze our butts off standing outside watching the Santa Claus parade.


We bake so many different kinds of cakes and Christmas cookies together that those frozen-off butts come back just fine.


We strategically plan our Black Friday weekends to make sure that our little angels get exactly what they asked Santa for.


And we move the freaking elf from one shelf to another. Every. Single. Night. — even if it’s at 3:45 a.m. when we wake up in a cold sweat realizing that we forgot.


Yes, your Instagram feed will be clogged with super fun and elaborate elf locations that your friends had the time and energy to plan. No, you do not have to keep up with the Joneses (just don’t post your pics online and tell them that you did just as imaginative and amazing stuff). But for real, we’ve got some simple, easy ones that will at least keep your kids believing one more year.

Ain’t nobody got time for this!


Just looking at this picture is exhausting! What we parents need are some realistic, not-too-time-consuming, lazy ideas that will still keep the kids excited.




Now this is something I could reasonably do.


And relate to. Can’t blame those elves for just doing what everyone else only wishes they could get away with. 











This is just so elegant in its simplicity.


Eat some chocolate, leave the wrappers, blame the toy who just sits on a shelf. I’m in!




This one is nice and easy.


And, as a bonus, to make room for his little elf butt, you’re going to have to eat some of those cookies first!

Adele’s new song “Hello” is perfect listening for anyone who wants to unnecessarily relive the emotional trauma of having your heart shattered into a billion pieces. The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
