15 Weird Facts About "Avatar"

Avatar is one of those stunning movies that really takes your breath away. Especially when you stop and consider just how much time and effort went into creating something so great. The majority of people out there are obsessed with this film and we don’t blame them – we are too. There’s a lot of weird facts about it that we actually didn’t know, and it’s your lucky day because we wanted to share them with you!

1. The director of the movie, James Cameron, actually came up with the idea for Avatar back in 1999. Unfortunately, special effects were not yet properly developed and the movie would have been far too expensive to create, so it was put on hold for years.

2. He got the idea for the Na’vi to be blue after his mother had a dream about a tall, blue woman.

3. Apparently, James came up with the plot for Avatar after watching Pocahontas.

They do have a lot of similarities!

4. James Cameron takes his directing role very seriously – so seriously in fact that legend has it if a cell phone rang on set, James would use a nail gun and nail it to the wall. He swears it’s not true, though he did once nail 20 phones to a wall on the Leno show.

I’m sure many teachers wish they could do the same thing in their classrooms.
