15 Cheery Facts About "Elf"




Is anybody else totally amazed that Elf came out 13 years ago? It feels like just yesterday I was running around saying, “Buddy the elf, what’s your favorite color?”. This might be because I still do this. Anyway, there’s no denying that this movie is pure, hilarious, Christmas magic. Seeing as the holiday season is now upon us, we’re getting ready to celebrate with the 15 facts about the movie that we actually had no idea about!  











1. Jim Carrey was actually up for the role of Buddy originally, but he turned it down, giving the part to Will Ferrell.


We can’t help but wonder if he regrets that. 




2. Despite the major success of the movie, Will turned down the opportunity to star in a sequel, even though he was offered $29 million to do so.













3. Will actually suffered from some pretty big headaches on set because he had to eat all of the sugary foods that elves eat. 


As much as I love chocolate, that sounds pretty awful. 




4. The cotton balls he eats in the doctor’s office was actually undyed cotton candy.

Adele’s new song “Hello” is perfect listening for anyone who wants to unnecessarily relive the emotional trauma of having your heart shattered into a billion pieces. The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
