"Making A Murderer" Star Brendan Dassey Is Being Released From Prison

10 years after the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach, one of the men said to be responsible is being released from prison. It was announced earlier today that a Wisconsin federal judge has ordered that 27-year-old Brendan Dassey be released after serving nearly 10 years in prison. Dassey, whose conviction was documented on the hit Netflix documentary Making A Murderer, was 16 years old when he actually confessed to assisting his uncle, Steven Avery, in the raping and killing of Teresa Halbach.

However, as we saw in the Netflix series, some believe that Dassey was coaxed into making a false confession.

Making A Murderer provided certain evidence that suggests the investigators took advantage of Dassey’s age and below average IQ in order to trick him into confessing to something he did not do.

The documentary also exposed Dassey’s confusion throughout the entire trial.

In one scene, Dassey calls his mother to say he did commit the murder, while just days later he implies that he was forced to say that.

The documentary has left many people who are familiar with the case undecided and skeptical about Dassey’s innocence.

But regardless of opinion, Dassey will be freed under the supervision of the US Probation Office.

Steven Avery, however, hasn’t been as lucky as his nephew…
