So I guess I’m behind on the trends because apparently traditional curling irons are so 2015. Right now, the craze is all about finding new ways to curl hair without using heat and causing damage. The ideas the people on this list have come up with are basically insane, but definitely entertaining. And the craziest part? They actually all work. I absolutely will not be following this bizarre trend, but it’s certainly worth looking at. Keep reading for a list of 12 weird and wacky things people have used to curl their hair.

Want some soft, loose waves? Why use a curler when you can use… a banana?

Ripping up strips of paper bags and fastening them to your hair is apparently a good way to curl it.

The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
