14 Celebs Who Gave Their Kids Up For Adoption

Giving up a child has to be one of the hardest things any parent could go through.

Sometimes it’s because you don’t have the money to afford a child, or you can’t because you can’t deal with the other parent, or you have no support – but whatever the reason, it does happen.

These are some celebrities who’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to give their kids up for adoption.

1. Back in 1977, Orange Is The New Black’s Kate Mulgrew became pregnant just as her soap opera acting career took off and gave up her daughter.

Because she didn’t want to marry the father, she gave her daughter up for adoption and didn’t see her again for 24 years.

Nicole Richie’s biological father and musician Peter Michael Escovedo asked Lionel Richie to raise her when she was three years old.

Escovedo and his wife couldn’t support Nicole anymore. Richie and his then-wife legally adopted Nicole when she was nine.

3. Physicist Albert Einstein and his wife had their first child in 1902 out of wedlock. They gave her up because of the shame of having an illegitimate child.

There are also reports that she may have died from scarlet fever.

4. Chuck Norris fathered a daughter with a woman who wasn’t his wife in the 1960s. 

Norris had no idea she existed until 1991 when his daughter, whose name is Dina, reached out to him. Chuck acknowledged her as his child.
