Same-sex marriage is something that has been gaining momentum over the past few years. More and more people are beginning to realize that denying someone their right to marriage is just flat-out wrong, so laws have been overturned to allow same-sex couples to become legally married. As a dreamer would have it, same-sex marriage would be legalized all over the world, but that isn’t the case. Same-sex marriage remains prohibited in many states and countries, despite the public disagreeing to these laws.

Enter Tom and Emily Verrocchi

Tom and Emily are a “traditional” couple, meaning one is a man and the other a woman. This Australian couple is adamantly against the Australian law prohibiting same-sex marriage. At their wedding, they had their guests do something awesome as a way of showing their disgust with the law. They couldn’t change the wording because then their marriage wouldn’t be recognized by the government.

Pictured left is Emily’s brother, Jonathan Wells. Jonathan is currently in a relationship with another man, so it’s not possible for him to legally get married under Australian law. As his sister, Emily obviously has a problem with this, so she began to ponder ways to get around the wording. Sadly, there was no way to change any of it without repercussions.
