13 Mysterious Photos That Are Nightmares Waiting To Happen

Most of the time, we’re not looking to fill our days with fear. If someone jumped out of our bushes every morning and screamed at us, we’d probably hate them for it. Yet every now and then, we find ourselves in an odd kind of mood and try to find something that chills our spirits and puts an exhilarating tingle in our spine.

Of course, we mostly seek these thrills from horror movies and haunted houses. In many cases, this is the more sudden, startling kind of horror not unlike the bush screamer I mentioned above. It’s only every once in a while that these kinds of scares can offer a more persistent, creeping sense of dread. It’s the mark of a truly effective horror story but it’s surprisingly easy to achieve just by browsing the internet on your own at night.

It’s not so much that one scary story or photo we come across does it. Instead, each slight bit of creepiness keeps adding up until we find ourselves regretting our little journey into the macabre. Why do we always do this right before we’re supposed to go to bed?

1. At first, it looks like I’m only showing you a photo of a dark room.

But then you see her.Of course, she’s only a girl wearing some unusual contacts. Still, that doesn’t mean you won’t find yourself looking around nervously the next time you’re in a room like this.

2. This probably gave a bored security guard a jolt for a second.

What’s likely going on here is the wide lens on the camera was able to pick up the top and back of her head at once. As a result, we get this trippy scene.

3. A lot had to go right to make this photo so skin-crawling.

First, they had to live near an area with enough wind to affect that tree’s growth. Then, they had to wait until a perfectly misty morning to ensure we can see that little girl without really making any details out.On an unexpectedly nice note, this image was apparently auctioned off to raise money for cancer research.

4. This seems like an unsettling scene from an old ritual.

However, the lighting makes it look creepier than it is. These are likely just nuns taking on their holy orders. The laying on the floor is called prostration and it’s supposed to show their humility and submission before God.
