Kesha is one of those artists who just seem super cool. Like, you could be her best friend and tell all your deepest, darkest secrets to her and she’d never tell a soul. Plus, her music is so catchy it’s insane. If “Tik Tok” wasn’t your 2010 anthem then you’re definitely doing something wrong and you need to stop and reevaluate. There’s a lot more to Kesha than her music that we had no idea about, until now that is. 











1. Kesha used to play the saxophone and trumpet in her high school marching band. 


Which honestly, we would love to see today.




2. While she was in high school, she used to drive to Belmont College and listen in on Cold War lectures for fun.

3. She explained that the ‘$’ in Ke$ha was ironic because she sang the hook in “Right Round,” the song that got her career started, but she was never paid for it. 






4. She ditched the ‘$’ after she was released from rehab where she stayed to seek treatment for an eating disorder in 2014.

The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
