Rihanna has been the hottest thing in music for what seems like ever now. You can pretty much pick one of her singles and relate it back to a significant time in your life (“Love the Way You Lie” was my high school anthem). For someone who always has a single on the radio, Rihanna is a super cool, down to earth kind of girl. She’s an impressive success story who’s making her island proud, that’s for sure! 











1. Growing up, Rihanna’s mother wouldn’t let her wear makeup.


It’s kind of funny because she went on to be a spokesmodel for CoverGirl. 




2. She had a rough childhood growing up in Barbados, as her father was a drug addict and her family didn’t have a lot of money. 













3. Barbados celebrates “Rihanna Day”, a national holiday on February 22nd. 






4. Her debut single was “Pon de Replay” and it peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 


 Jay Z actually heard the song and thought that it was too big for Rihanna, as she was just starting out and it would be too hard to create more music as popular.

Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant.
