In January of 2015, Samuel Forrest became a father to his newborn son, Leo. Upon delivery, doctors had diagnosed Leo with down syndrome. At first, Samuel was shocked to hear the news, but upon seeing his son, he realized that he would love his son unconditionally. Then came something else that shocked Samuel. His wife, Ruzan, was not pleased with the outcome of her child and wanted to abandon him. Disagreeing with his wife, she gave him an ultimatum – abandon the baby boy or abandon their marriage. It was then when began talking to her again that he realized her hesitation was a result of cultural pressures being forced upon her. She had no idea what down syndrome really was, so when Samuel agreed to meet with her and let her hold Leo, she immediately fell in love.
