14 Crafty Uses For Balloons That Go Beyond the Birthday Party

My junk drawer contains a random assortment of leftover stray balloons from various events. Inevitably, whenever another event comes around, those balloons either don’t match the theme or I just plain forget they’re there. Thinking that there must be some way to put them to use besides terrorizing the dogs (don’t judge me!), I began to dig for projects in the junk drawers of the Internet. And now I can save you the trouble of that deep dive by sharing some of my favorites with you!

1. Make a wreath!

So this is a slight cheat, because as the image shows, such a project could be birthday party related, but don’t let that limit you! These would work for any occasion, and you can also spray paint the finished wreath if your balloons don’t match the color theme.

2. A piñata for any occasion.

This is a super cute idea! You just use the mouth of a water bottle for a funnel to get the candy inside the balloon before blowing up. Let the recipient pop it themselves, or it could be a really fun version of the balloon darts game I always fail at when the fair is in town.

3. Ice balls without the fancy mold.

Just fill balloons with some water and freeze! They may not be perfect spheres, but they’ll still look great and provide the same bonus of not watering down your beverages as quickly as cubes.
