Photographer Spreads Love For Freckles Through Portraits

What are freckles? Some of us have them and others don’t. Often when you are out in the sun you get more freckles or if you already have some they can get darker. They are just something people have on their skin, but many of them get teased and bullied because of them.

A photographer recognized the beauty in freckles and started putting together a series of portraits of all the people who dawn them. He shows how each person can look so beautiful whether they are covered in freckles or just have a spattering.

Brock Elbank started photographing freckles in 2013.

“My friend John, who I played football with, had his lad come to watch. Eddie was 10 and had this fantastic face, heavily covered in freckles.”

Brock asked if he could take Eddie’s picture and that’s where his series started.

“From there on in, all I looked for was interesting freckled faces, of all ages and backgrounds.”

Brock commented how what he loves most about freckles is how the people who have them, hated them as children.

Many were teased and wished they didn’t have them.

As adults, they love and accept them.

“Heavily freckled faces are beautiful, on both men and women.”
