Girl Spends First 13 Years As A Real-Life Mowgli

When wildlife photographers Sylvie Robert and Alain Degre had a baby girl, they didn’t leave their African adventure behind. Instead, they took her with them and documented her very unusual childhood in some spectacular photos.

Tippi was born in Windhoek, Namibia in 1990.

One of her best friends growing up was a 34-year-old elephant named Abu. She described him as her “brother.”

Don’t worry, though — her parent’s kept a close eye on her safety.

Most of the animals Tippi played with were from farms where orphaned animals are taken care of and are generally more accustomed to humans.

She was named after actress Tippi Hedren.

One of the actress’ most famous roles was in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

The local people also taught her all sorts of things!

She spent a lot of time with the San Bushmen in Namibia.

Curious about what Tippi’s up to now? Check it out!
