My mother was a firm believer in the “turn the other cheek” maxim — God bless her heart. Thankfully, my father made a point of teaching me that everyone can use a taste of their own medicine from time to time. 


Whether they actually get it is a whole other question.

The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant.
