America"s Most Googled "How To" Questions Are Just Peak America

The internet has provided us with such helpful information over the years that it’s hard to imagine life without it. It’s hard to say exactly when this happened, but nowadays it seems like our first instinct is to hit up Google as soon as we run into a problem.

That’s certainly what I do, and I really don’t relish the idea of returning to a time when I didn’t have that option. Still, when you look at the results that pop up with Google’s Autocomplete feature, it can make you wonder what kind of strange situations our fellow netizens are getting themselves into.

That kind of curiosity is likely what led real estate website Estately to comb through Google Autocomplete data from across the country and discover what their fellow Americans are trying to figure out how to do. Once they did, they found out the most popular “how to” questions asked in each state.

They took care to note that these aren’t necessarily the questions each state Googled the most but rather which questions they Googled more than any other state.

To give you a taste of how wild the results could get, we’re going to share 10 of our favorites.

COMMENT and tell us about the strangest thing you had to Google.

1. In Hawaii, it seems people want to learn to be ninjas.

Their other questions concern more everyday stuff like investing and getting rid of acne, but it seems nobody is more eager to study the ways of the ninja than Hawaiians.

2. Wisconsin’s biggest question was how to impeach a governor.

Considering that about 62% of voters don’t want Governor Scott Walker to run for another term, this doesn’t really come as a surprise. In fact, this isn’t the first time the question has come up since Walker made American history in 2012 when he became the first governor to survive a recall election.

3. Nevada is ahead of the curve in preparing for a zombie apocalypse.

Some of the state’s other top questions include “how to buy a gun” and “how to fight,” which I can’t help but feel are related to the zombie one.

4. A lot of Texans want to know how to sell their souls for some reason.

The Lone Star State is apparently full of interesting questions like “how to become a Jedi” and “how to make [Nickelodeon] Gak” so I guess this one’s par for the course.
