When considering how much the world’s biggest actors and actresses make each year, it’s kind of hard to feel bad when you learn that one or two of them took a decent-sized pay cut for some of their movies. However, when you consider the stage of their career and their willingness to take less money in order for a filmmaker to actually get a film done, that is somewhat admirable. 

Many actors have taken pay cuts over the years, but none have taken such drastic ones as these A-listers. 

1. Jamie Dornan – 50 Shades Of Grey

Dornan only took home a reported $125,000 for his role in the screen adaptation of this popular novel. However, it has been said that he can expect a raise of about $12 million for the sequel. 

2. Tom Cruise – Magnolia

One of the richest actors in the world took a pretty decent pay cut to star in 1999s Magnolia. Apparently Tom only received about $100,000 for doing the film.

3. Jonah Hill – The Wolf Of Wall Street

Jonah Hill offered to take a huge pay cut so that his pal Leonardo DiCaprio could star in the movie. Desperately wanting to work with Scorsese and Leo, Hill only took home $65,000 for the film – a sacrifice that saw the movie take home a ton of different awards. 

4. Barkhad Abdi – Captain Phillips 

Though Tom Hanks was the star of this film, anyone who saw it was surely impressed by the amazing performance of Barkhad Abdi. He was only payed $65,000 for the role, but chances are his next paycheck is going to be much bigger.
