20 World Leaders Reimagined As Hipsters

Terrible, terrible things happen during election campaigns, but sometimes some good comes from them, too, especially for art. Just think of Shepard Fairey’s often-imitated “Hope” poster from 2008. Shepard sold his first run of those posters in minutes, and it went on to become an icon and make Shepard a household name. Wherever you land on the political spectrum, you have to appreciate the success of Shepard’s design.

The most recent campaign didn’t bring another “Hope” poster, but we did get an image that will stay with us for a long time. Photoshopping a man bun onto Donald Trump was a stroke of genius. Building off that, Australian design community DesignCrowd held a contest to add man buns to leaders from across the globe. The results are pretty special. See for yourself.

I don’t know how these Photoshoppers do it, but that’s just glorious. No wonder the designers of the world were inspired.
