Water Boy is one of those movies from the golden age of Sandler.


I’m talking Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds when Adam Sandler was really hitting his stride.


I love them because Sandler took his schtick into high gear. Water Boy was one of my favorites but there were so many cool things about it like…











1. Adam Sandler went to Penn State to watch future Linebacker for the New York Giants, Lavar Arrington.


Maybe he practiced the art of water boying too.




2. The cheerleader outfits were donated by the REAL Boone High School in Orlando, Florida.













3. Long-time actor Kathy Bates only did the movie after her niece (a long a fan of Adam Sandler) told her to do it.


He loves his mama…




4. Henry Winkler, AKA The Fonz from Happy Days, wanted to be in the movie after he was name-dropped in Sandler’s huge hit, “The Chanukah Song.”


Winkler was thrilled that Sandler mentioned that he’s Jewish. Then Sandler asked Winkler if he would read for the part of Coach Klein and Winkler immediately agreed to do the movie.

You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
