12 Important Expiration Dates For Products That Seem To Sit Around Forever

How many times have you found an old jar of olives or an ancient bottle of shampoo and wondered whether it’s still okay to use? Sometimes stuff just doesn’t have a recognizable expiration date, and also, expiration dates have been found to be somewhat unreliable.

Luckily, health food experts helped collaborated with Real Simple and compiled a list of rough expiration dates for many household items that you probably own. It turns out that a product’s expiration date depends on the way that they have been stored or handled already, and some are pretty surprising.

Here are 12 expiration dates for products that seem to sit around forever.

COMMENT on Facebook letting us know if you were surprised by any of these.

1. Brown Sugar.

Has an indefinite shelf life if stored in sealed container keeping out moisture.

2. Frozen dinners.

Come, we all have a few Hungry Man dinners in the freezer that are as hard as a rock. These can be stored frozen for 12 to 18 months.

3. Diet soda.

This one I really had no idea about. Unopened diet soda is good three months from the “best by” date. When opened, the taste can be majorly affected, but it will not spoil. Nice.
