Nobody Can Figure Out What Kind Of Terrifying Fish This Guy Is Catching
The strange, unknowable things that live beneath the waves have captured our imaginations ever since we first took to boats and paddled away from shore. There has always been a kraken for the gods to release or a leviathan to swallow our ships. And do you ever feel more vulnerable than when you’re out swimming in the ocean, with the bottom well below you, and something – some thing – brushes against your foot? Your imagination can’t help running wild – was it just some harmless, colorful, Disney-like fish? Or was it the probing touch of a tentacle? The smooth slithering of an eel? The hungry circling of a shark?
Well, the only thing worse than not knowing what sent a shiver up your spine might be actually finding out what it was, if one Russian fisherman’s Twitter feed is any indication. At least an octopus or an eel would be something familiar, something known, something we’ve seen before. The things this guy is pulling up? Nobody seems to know what they are – other than terrifying.
Russian deep-sea fisherman Roman Fedortsov might have the creepiest Twitter feed in the world right now.

Roman operates out of the port of Murmansk, on the edge of the Arctic Ocean – just the sort of remote location where a fisherman might awaken an ancient evil that will go on to terrorize humanity in a Hollywood blockbuster.

Many of them look like they’d chow down on your finger given half the chance, don’t you think?

The weirdest part about these finds is that Roman doesn’t have any better idea of what they might be than you or me.
