Beauty blogger Eugenia Cooney has come under fire, dealing with multiple Change.org petitions to ban her channel on YouTube.


We often hear stories of body-shaming, but Eugenia’s case is unique and begs the question — how far does our freedom of speech extend? To we ever have a responsibility to censorship? Is body-shaming ever okay?

Meet Eugenia Cooney.


Eugenia is a 22-year-old beauty blogger living in upstate New York. She has uploaded over 250 videos to YouTube during her short career.




Eugenia has been a beauty blogger since 2013.


She covers a range of topics, from clothing, to confidence, makeup tutorials and hair extension reviews, getting bullied, and favorite Pokémon.











Eugenia’s got a huge social media presence.


Her YouTube channel has nearly a million subscribers and she has close to half a million Instagram followers.




One of her most popular videos is of her mother giving her a makeover.


Eugenia is known for her emo/gothic style and this too-cute makeover by her mother turned her into a preppy, clean-faced lady. The video of Eugenia’s making-over her mother in a gothic style didn’t garner nearly the same number of views, but it did give some insight into the nature of their accepting, loving relationship.Comments on her videos are polarized, but it’s got nothing to do with her content.

Adele’s new song “Hello” is perfect listening for anyone who wants to unnecessarily relive the emotional trauma of having your heart shattered into a billion pieces. The song is about the failures of reconnecting with a loved one after painful years apart. If you can get through the song without having a crippling, tear-soaked breakdown, then you likely have no heart. You also might find that the lyrics are uncannily similar to a drunken text you might send your ex. Mary Caldera noticed this similarity and decided to test it out on her ex-boyfriend, Matt. Poor Matt clearly didn’t get the reference. Naturally, Matt assumed Mary was just drunk texting him, and his deadpan and confused response is brilliant. If you think Mary was cruel for texting Matt and getting his hopes up, well, she didn’t stop there. She also posted the entire exchange on Twitter, much to our delight!
