Three Years After Receiving A Full Face Transplant, Woman Looks Absolutely Stunning




Only in the last decade have doctors truly perfected face transplants. Doctors are now better than ever at giving someone a new face when an accident or genetic condition has robbed them of their own. 
After nearly three years, one of Poland’s only face transplant recipients is showing off her amazing new face after a genetic condition led her to develop enormous facial tumors. You have to see 26-year-old Joanna today!

This is Joanna prior to her face transplant. To protect her privacy, she only goes by her first name in public. 


She suffered from a large facial tumor caused by a genetic condition known as neurofibromatosis. Doctors knew that a transplant was needed to relieve her of this burden. 




The 26-year-old woman would be just the second person to receive a face transplant in her home country of Poland. 


In February of 2014, she would undergo surgery to change her face once and for all. 











Dr. Adam Maciejewski led a team of doctors and nurses in a 23-hour surgery, transplanting roughly 80% of her face.
