12 Animals Of The Chinese Zodiac As Watercolor Paintings

Horoscopes are a fun way to pass the time, but I’ve never been able to take them 100% to heart. I’ve never minded the Chinese zodiac signs because I feel like we are more accurately represented in animals than in the stars. Every time I come across a representation of the Chinese zodiac, I find that they are harshly drawn. I understand that it’s probably to represent their natures better, but still. Artist Anna Bucciarelli does a fantastic job of giving the animals the spirit they are known for, and she does it all with watercolor paint! Here are the 12 zodiac signs as she interprets them. Feel free to share your sign with us, or even just your favorite painting.

1.  The monkey

Monkeys have always fascinated me because they are so similar to humans. This depiction of a monkey is so fluffy and adorable, but I also see a hint of mischief in its eyes. If you were born in the year of the monkey, you are considered to be witty, lively, and smart. The year of the monkey is this year — 2016!

2. The rooster

Roosters have a bad rep for being the loud, annoying creature that wakes country dwellers up in the morning. The vibrant colors of this rooster make it tough to be annoyed. If you were born in the year of the rooster, you are considered to be intelligent, energetic, and honest. The next year of the rooster is 2017.

3. The dog

I’ve always been an animal person. I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats. I love that this interpretation is a French bulldog. They have the cutest wrinkled faces, and the snorts they make are adorable. If you are born in the year of the dog, you are considered to be loyal, full of courage, and able to adapt to situations. The next year of the dog is 2018.
